What This Covers
In shortCookies, and what the site keeps in your browser's own storage. All of it is for the site and the game to work.
Cookies are small pieces of information a website asks your browser to keep and send back to it. Browsers also let a website keep things in their own storage, which only that website can read.
Skylith uses both, only so the site and the game work. Nothing it keeps on your device is used for advertising or to follow you to other websites.
Each name below is what you'd see in your browser's developer tools. A part in angle brackets, such as <save>, stands for the save or account it belongs to.
Cloudflare's Cookies
In shortCloudflare, which every visit passes through, sets its own cookies to tell people from automated traffic.
Every visit to Skylith passes through Cloudflare (Privacy Policy, Section 4), which sets these itself. Cloudflare's own privacy policy covers them.
__cf_bm — Helps tell people from automated traffic. It goes after 30 minutes without activity.
cf_clearance — Set when you pass one of Cloudflare's own checks, so you aren't asked again for a while.
Your Game
In shortCopies of your saves and progress, so the game doesn't wait on the network. Your account keeps its own copy.
These stay until you clear them. Your account keeps its own copy, so clearing them in one browser loses nothing.
skylith_saves — Your list of saves, and which one you played last.
skylith_world:<save> — A copy of one save's world, with where you stand, what you've beaten and what you've found.
skylith_world — A save from before there were save slots. The game moves it into a slot the first time it sees it.
skylith_climb — Your account's progress, such as your cards and their levels, your Skyth, relics and achievements.
skylith_climb_owner — Which account that progress belongs to, so another account on the same browser never opens it.
skylith_local_owner — Which account played last in this browser, so each account's game is kept apart.
skylith_stash:<account> — Another account's game, put aside while you're signed in and given back when that account signs in again.
skylith_hop_best — Your best score in Fragment Hop, the game on the maintenance screen.
Your Settings
In shortThe settings and choices you make on this device, and copies of a few that follow your account.
These stay until you clear them.
skylith_game_prefs — Your game settings from Settings → Game.
skylith_shadows — How detailed the game's shadows are.
skylith_map_layers — What the map shows.
skylith_minimap — Whether the small map in the corner is shown.
skylith_hub_tab — Which tab of the Hub you had open.
skylith_news_prefs:<account> — The News channels you follow and the stories you've read and saved. Your account keeps them too.
skylith_thread_prefs:<account> — The discussions you watch and how far you've read. Your account keeps them too.
skylith_guides_read:<account> — Which guides you've read. Your account keeps them too.
skylith_offline_auto — Whether the game downloads itself for offline play.
skylith_offline_packs — The extra downloads you've chosen in Settings → Offline.
Things the Site Remembers
In shortSmall notes, such as what you've already seen or reported, so the site doesn't ask or show it twice.
The ones marked as gone when you close the tab are kept only for that visit. The rest stay until you clear them.
skylith_reported:<account> — What you've reported, so Report shows you already have.
skylith_maintenance — Whether Skylith was last under maintenance, so that screen shows straight away.
skylith_dash_welcomed — That the dashboard's welcome has played. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_whatsnew_later — That you chose Later on What's new, so it waits for your next visit. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_outage_closed — That you closed the bar about a problem with the site. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_news_list — The list of News stories, so going back doesn't load it again. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_threads_list — The list of discussions, so going back doesn't load it again. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_duel_left — The duel you just left, so it doesn't open again. Gone when you close the tab.
Signing In
In shortFirebase keeps you signed in, and a copy of your account's data so the game works offline. Signing out clears that copy.
These are kept in your browser's database (IndexedDB) and its storage.
firebaseLocalStorageDb — Firebase's record that you're signed in, so you stay signed in.
firestore/<project> — A copy of your account's data, so the game works offline. Signing out clears it.
skylith_pass_until:<check>:<account> — When your human check runs out, so the site knows when to ask again. The check itself is the cookie above.
skylith_signup_agreed — That you agreed to the Terms while making your account, until the account is set up. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_return_to — The page to take you back to after you sign in. Gone when you close the tab.
skylith_return:<account> — That you played offline, so your account is checked when you're back online (Fair Play Policy).
Offline Copies
In shortThe game's files, and any News stories you save, so they open without a connection.
You can remove them in Settings → Offline.
skylith-offline-v1 — The game's files and the pages you've opened, so Skylith works without a connection.
skylith-stories-v1 — The News stories you've saved, with their pictures.
Only for the Team
In shortTesting switches and saves for parts of the game only the team can play yet. They're only on the team's browsers.
A few more keys hold the team's testing switches, and saves for parts of the game only the team can play yet. Players' browsers never keep them, so they aren't listed one by one.
Clearing It
In shortYou can clear all of it in your browser's settings. Your game comes back when you sign in, because your account keeps its own copy.
You can clear everything Skylith keeps on your device in your browser's settings, by clearing the cookies and site data for skylith.io.
Clearing it signs you out and removes this device's copy of your saves. Your account keeps its own copy of your game, so it comes back when you sign in. Settings kept only on this device, such as those in Settings → Game, go back to their defaults.
If you played offline, go online before you clear it, so what you played reaches your account.
If your browser blocks cookies for skylith.io, you'll be asked to do the human check again and again, and some things won't work.
Offline copies can also be removed in Settings → Offline.
Revision history
Every version →First published. It lists every cookie and everything else Skylith keeps on your device.
This is the version that applies today. Every earlier version of Skylith's documents is kept and can be compared with the one after it. Write to support@skylith.io with any questions.
